Solar Benefits

With electricity prices climbing and bills getting harder to predict, solar isn’t just smart, it’s how you take control. You’ll cut your monthly costs and increase your home’s value, all while locking in long-term savings.

Low Power Bills

Reduce your reliance on the grid and lower your monthly electricity costs, especially with Alberta’s rising rates.

Forever Savings

Protect yourself from unpredictable energy prices by generating your own power for up to 30 years.

Home Value Boost

Homes with solar often sell faster and for 4% more on average. Buyers are drawn to lower utility costs and energy efficiency.

Energy Control

Pair solar with battery storage, and generate and store your own power, so you're less dependent on the grid, even during outages.

Rebates & Incentives

Take advantage of available rebates, low-interest financing options, and programs that let you pay through property taxes with no upfront cost. Plus, earn credits for any extra power your system sends back to the grid.

CEIP

Clean Energy Improvement Program (CEIP)

Upgrade your home with solar through the CEIP, which lets you finance the cost of your system and pay it back conveniently on your property tax bill. Flexible terms make clean energy easier than ever.

6

Home Renovations Saving Program (Ontario)

Ontario homeowners can save up to $10,000 (for electrically heated homes) or $5,000 (for natural gas heated homes) on energy-efficient upgrades like insulation, windows & doors, heat pumps, solar panels & battery storage through the Home Renovation Savings Program.

sOLAR CLUB

Microgeneration & Net Metering

When your solar system produces more electricity than your home uses, the excess flows back to the grid and you receive credits on your utility bill. In Alberta, under the Microgeneration Regulation, these credits roll over indefinitely, letting you use them whenever you need. In Ontario, through the Net Metering program, credits roll over for up to 12 months before expiring. In both provinces, this helps reduce your electricity costs and maximize the long-term value of your solar production.

5

Change Homes for Climate (Edmonton)

Edmonton multi-unit residential property owners can receive $0.50/watt toward the cost of a solar system. Rebates are capped at $4,000 per dwelling and up to $100,000 per property owner, per year, making it easier to add solar across larger buildings.

7

Local Municipal Solar Rebates

Communities like Medicine Hat, Canmore, and Banff offer their own solar rebate programs, giving residents direct incentives to lower upfront installation costs and make the switch to clean energy more affordable.

Going solar can feel like a big step. With Zeno, from the first conversation to the moment your system is switched on, you’ll know exactly what to expect and who’s supporting you at every stage.

Solar FAQs

Have questions? We’ve got you covered. Don’t see what you’re looking for? Reach out anytime!

How does solar energy work?

Solar panels use photovoltaic cells to convert sunlight into direct current (DC) electricity. This is then converted into alternating current (AC) using an inverter, making it usable for your home or business.

What about cloudy days or winter?

Solar panels still generate electricity in cloudy weather and winter months, though production is reduced. The goal of a solar system is to offset 100% of your annual energy needs, meaning it will overproduce in the summer months to make up for underproduction in the winter months.

How long do solar panels last?

Solar panels are warrantied to last 30 years but can last up to 40 years in practice.

Will solar panels affect my insurance?

In most cases, solar panels are covered under your existing homeowner's insurance as part of your dwelling. However, because solar can increase your home’s replacement value, you should inform your insurance provider.

Are solar panels recyclable?

Yes. Most panel components like glass and aluminum are recyclable, and recycling programs are expanding.

What kind of maintenance is required?

No maintenance is required. You only need to ensure your solar app is set up so you can monitor production and be alerted if there are any issues.

Can I sell excess energy back to the grid?

Yes, through microgeneration (Alberta) and net metering (Ontario), your utility will credit you for excess power sent back.

When will I start seeing savings?

It may take up to one full billing cycle before you see credits. If you don't see credits, please reach out to your retailer. Keep in mind you may be in a winter month where exported power is not expected.

Do I need to pay anything upfront?

Not necessarily. Zeno offers financing options with no upfront costs are available for qualified customers.

What financing options are available?

We offer multiple options including low-interest loans and partner with trusted financial providers to offer affordable monthly payments tailored to your budget.
